The Elements: Mindful Approaches to Stress

Informed by practices supporting those who have experienced trauma, The Elements can be used in combination or on their own to help reduce stress. They are appropriate for any environment - the classroom, home, playing field or office.

1. The Environment

To change behavior, we must first attend to the environment. What changes can be made to the surroundings to support a behavioral shift?

2. The Behavior

To help others we must first help ourselves. Self-awareness through mindfulness practices aim to shift relationships towards compassion and understanding.

3. Unconditional Love

When it is most difficult to love someone is often when we must love them the most. How can we find compassion in the most difficult of times?

4. Attach and Attune

Anchored in attachment theory and the Circle of Security Parenting Program, we dive into relationships and examine where we can use mindfulness to be more present in relation to ourselves and others.

5. Be Empowered!

You are not alone! Being resourceful is key when seeking any degree of change, both in ourselves and others.

6. The Essentials

It is imperative to meet basic needs first before making big changes. Utilizing neuroscience, we employ a bottom-up strategy to changing behavior..

7. Mind+Body

Strategies based in yoga and mindfulness, we start to work up the hierarchy of the brain towards higher-level thinking when solving problems.

8. The Practice

Our brains and body are use-dependent. With knowledge based in functional movement, physical literacy, and mindfulness, we seek change through The Practice: Repetition and Reinforcement of what we want to see.
